The Difference A Knob Makes . . .

Sometimes I redo a dresser and keep the original hardware, but after awhile, when it doesn't sell, I invest in new hardware ($52 from Home Depot)! It's always the best resolution.

Mirrored 'Heritage' End Table

I've been walking past this little table for a couple of weeks now and today I finally picked it up! It's made by Heritage furniture, which eventually merged with Drexel to become 'Drexel heritage'. I have a love affair for these two brands, mostly because they were the gold standard in everyone's homes, and are very nicely made and easy to revamp. you can see the corner of my new giant buffet there, it's a Drexel, too! 

Anyway. For a while I've been wanting to test what a mirrored look would be like on a wood piece of furniture. This was my test mouse!

And here is how it turned out. A can of chrome feathered with some grey, black, and brown antiquing to finish it off! The last two images I used the flash on my camera so you can see just how reflective it became. Love it!

Two-Tone Demi-Dresser

I was walking through my local thrift shop, trying as hard as I might to avoid finding a piece of furniture, because I'm busting out of the seams at my little temporary work space, when I came across this tiny dresser.

Isn't it CUTE!

So I painted it, smoothed her up here and there, and called it good. With a lot of these old dressers it's nice to paint the interiors. It's either that or leave the interior, but usually there's marks and this and that, besides, the two tone is fun, all the color but not publicly.

Pearl-Taupe Wardrobe Dresser

This was an estate piece that had been really well cared for. The interior is a gorgeous wood, the whole thing exceptionally made. It was disappointing that I could not find a manufacturers name anywhere on it. I thought for sure, given it's construction, that it could be Drexel, but alas, I will never know.

I painted the exterior a warm taupe, then coated it with a pearl metallic glaze which really adds something when catching the light. It's gentle, mysterious, and intimate. I'm in love!

Tiffany Blue Dresser

I love this color right now, and this vintage dresser was the perfect recipient! Trashing the old, musty knobs, I went for a set of crystal ones that instantly changed the whole piece! The antique mirror is gorgeous, and with a good sanding before the new paint, you would think it were brand new! 

You love it, you know you do!

Hope for the Hope Chest

One of my valued clients dropped this old trunk on my doorstep. He gave it to me for free! I love a good cedar trunk, and this one was in dire straights! There was a can of clear lacquer spilt all throughout the interior, and green paint chipping off the outside, poor thing!
